Saturday May 7, 2011 marks the season finale for Artwerks Lateral 58 First Saturday art season. The day-long event begins at 10 a.m. and lasts to 4 p.m. Musical entertainment is from noon to 4 p.m. 

Artwerks Lateral 58 showcases a variety of original art including paintings, metal, bronze, wood, clay, hand crafted jewelry, mosaics, glass work, beads and pottery, and live music, dancing and singing. Event goers have the opportunity to observe artists at work as well as participate in ongoing workshops for all ages.

Olivia Calderón - known as "La Voz De Diamante" performs every Sunday from 10 a.m. - Noon at Bitzee Mamas Restaurant in downtown Glendale, Ariz. 

Olivia Calderón ( was born in Salinas, California and raised in Eloy, Arizona. As a child her first love was singing, a talent cultivated by her parents. Olivia has performed in venues as close as Phoenix, Arizona and as far as Beijing, China! Through her CD, Olivia grows closer to her fans who have supported her throughout her singing career. Olivia is a proud Arizona Latina and loves to share her talent! Come and enjoy one of the best Mariachi musical voices around!

Following Artwerks Lateral 58's season finale on May 7th, join us at Bitz-ee Mama's, for great rhythm and blues with Rochelle Raya (formerly of Sistah Blue) and the DelRayz and tequila tasting with Cruz Tequila.

 A silent art auction to benefit the Community Mural project and The FUSION Foundation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue through 8:00 p.m. at Bitz-ee Mama's.

The event is sponsored by Bitz-ee Mama's, Community Public Relations, Tovra Fina Arts, Cruz Tequila, Despins Printing and Papa Ed's Ice Cream. Proceeds will benefit the completion of the Artwerks Lateral 58 Community Mural Project.

An overview of abuse as it is experienced by a significant percentage of our population, adults and children (infants thru adolescents). Attendees will be able to define and identify abuse. They will learn ways to respond to protect themselves and others. Dr. Shipley has been a consultant to Child Protective Services and an expert for the Arizona Attorney General's office for more than 28 years.   • MOHESHALI, Bangladesh – Something went terribly wrong when Asta Banu gave birth. Her labour was difficult and seemed to take forever. When the baby – a boy – was finally born, he was unresponsive. Although Ms. Banu's family quickly arranged transportation to the Thakurgaon District Hospital, their efforts were in vain. During the 20 km drive, the baby slipped into a coma and died.
