Latest News: Going Gently

We are all at times in our lives met with a sense of weariness which goes beyond what we might experience as the normal effects of physical or mental taxation. This particular feeling can best be described as weariness of the soul - a period in which we may feel as though all of our resources, even our deepest reserves, have been spent.

Welcome to The FUSION Foundation

The FUSION Foundation serves those who serve, we serve individuals and organizations who desire to be the change they wish to see in the world. We believe we are obligated to our ancestors and to the future seven generations to imagine a better way to live on the planet. We believe indigenous and future generations worldviews are the keys to envisioning a different, more sustainable life. We believe increased regional control will allow communities to determine what is best for them in a bottom up, not top down manner, including a return to more of a subsistence lifestyle where the things we need for life like food, water and medicine are concentrated in the hands of local producers and users.

The FUSION Foundation is a 501c3 community development organization focused on educating, empowering and inspiring local actions with a global vision. Our goal is to transform communities of conflict into communities of collaboration and creativity using the tools of the heart with stories - to build bridges that match needs with resources in our communities.

The FUSION Foundation connects ancient wisdom with emergent needs to educate, empower and inspire individuals to bring forth thriving, just, sustainable local communities in a global world.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” – Maya Angelou

“A community is the mental and spiritual condition of knowing that the place is shared, and that the people who share the place define and limit the possibilities of each other's lives. It is the knowledge that people have of each other, their concern for each other, their trust in each other, the freedom with which they come and go among themselves.”
― Wendell Berry

I ulu no ka lala I ke kumu. (Translation - The branches grow because of the trunk. Without our ancestors we would not be here.)"

-Hawaiian proverb

"Gender equity requires seeing women in their full humanity - as producers and creators, as custodians of culture, as political decision makers, as spiritual beings." Dr. Vandana Shiva, Women’s Earth Alliance International Advisor

“Long before I ever heard the word ‘environmental,’ I understood sacredness, interdependence, and my responsibility to preserve and maintain balance on the Earth.”

-Elouise Brown, Dine Woman and President of Dooda Desert Rock Initiative

"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them."

—Albert Einstein

"The question of socialism or communism or capitalism or between the left and right – I think the important question is between the industrial society and the earth-based society. And I say that because I believe that capitalism and communism are really much more about how the wealth is distributed, if it trickles down or is appropriated at the beginning to those who have worked for it. But, you know, someone has to question where the wealth came from. What right does society have to the wealth? What is the relationship between that society and the land from which it got its wealth? Those are the questions that should be asked."

- Winona LaDuke

"Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation."

Robert F. Kennedy

FUSION Factor Key concepts

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human RightsThe Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 10 December 1948, was the result of the experience of the Second World War. With the end of that war, and the creation of the United Nations, the international community vowed never again to allow atrocities like those of that conflict happen again. World leaders decided to complement the UN Charter with a road map to guarantee the rights of every individual everywhere. The document they considered, and which would later become the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, was taken up at the first session of the General Assembly in 1946.  The Assembly reviewed this draft Declaration on Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms and transmitted it to the Economic and Social Council "for reference to the Commission on Human Rights for consideration . . . in its preparation of an international bill of rights." The Commission, at its first session early in 1947, authorized its members to formulate what it termed "a preliminary draft International Bill of Human Rights". Later the work was taken over by a formal drafting committee, consisting of members of the Commission from eight States, selected with due regard for geographical distribution.

Earth CharterThe Earth Charter is a declaration of fundamental ethical principles for building a just, sustainable and peaceful global society in the 21st century. It seeks to inspire in all people a new sense of global interdependence and shared responsibility for the well-being of the whole human family, the greater community of life, and future generations. It is a vision of hope and a call to action.

The Earth Charter is centrally concerned with the transition to sustainable ways of living and sustainable human development. Ecological integrity is one major theme. However, the Earth Charter recognizes that the goals of ecological protection, the eradication of poverty, equitable economic development, respect for human rights, democracy, and peace are interdependent and indivisible. It provides, therefore, a new, inclusive, integrated ethical framework to guide the transition to a sustainable future.

The best idea humanity has ever had…

The Charter for Compassion is a document that transcends religious, ideological, and national differences. Supported by leading thinkers from many traditions, the Charter activates the Golden Rule around the world.

The Charter for Compassion is a cooperative effort to restore not only compassionate thinking but, more importantly, compassionate action to the center of religious, moral and political life. Compassion is the principled determination to put ourselves in the shoes of the other, and lies at the heart of all religious and ethical systems.
