Artist Statement: My goal is to share the colors of life and even insert a part of my personality in each painting or Ceramic piece I create with a common theme of space and detail.

Artist Biography:  A sixth generation Arizonan of Mexican/Spanish/Pima origins, I have seen the growth of the Phoenix skyline from my home in the Citrus orchards by the South Mountain close to Baseline Road near the beautiful Japanese flower gardens on the east end of South Phoenix.  With the love of drawing evident at an early age of three, I was given Art lessons at the Phoenix Art Museum during the summer months and later in Jr. High I attended the ASU summer programs for further study.  During High school at South Mountain, there were many really gifted students and we had a wonderful Art program which resulted in many statewide awards for my classmates as well as myself. Taking additional classes in college at Mesa Community College in Studio Art and Acrylic painting then at Phoenix College for Ceramics, I have always enjoyed the varied mediums in which to create something colorful and distinct. My studies at ASU were more inline with my major in Anthropology but I still had extra credits in taking Art classes when I could.  It was much later in life that I started to paint again after my job layoff and my two sons now grown that I decided I needed to get back up to speed and refresh my mind on Watercolors in 2010-11, then in Acrylics in 2012-13.  The Ceramics and Oil paintings will be evident for 2014. I have always loved the colors of Earth showing the Mountains and sky in all her glory.
