One of the Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist
Priests will be visiting from the LA Temple (5 Temples in the World) to give the Evening Gongyo (about 30 minutes).
The practice will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. then approximately a 30 - 45 minute discussion about Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism, then about 15 - 30 minutes for Q&A with the guests.
If anyone had previously decided to commit to this practice, then we will have a short ceremony called Gojaki and they will receive their own Gohonzon (about 10-15 minutes)....this would only be done if people had been introduced to the practice previously. In other words, no one would do this ceremony upon their first introduction.
The energy is transformational and powerful and Buddhists and non-Buddhists are welcome. The chanting is in Japanese, there is an opportunity to actively participate chanting Nam-Myo-Ho-Renge-Kyomost people join in, it feels good and moves energy.
The more the merrier so please come and/or invite others. This group meets monthly, however, this is a special occasion, quarterly visit with the Priest from Los Angeles, this will be the last visit in 2012.
Ideally a head count would be fantastic as the hosts (Mark and Cynthia) usually have some light snacks and coffee after for people to hang out and enjoy the peace together.
It is highly recommend to arrive about 6:30-6:45 to get comfortable and have time for a quick introduction.
