Women in all parts of the world suffer from violence and discrimination. They are grossly under-represented in political and economic decision-making processes.

The FUSION Foundation is committed to being a dynamic and strong champion for women and girls, particularly indigenous women, providing opportunities for individuals to discover their powerful voice at the global, regional and local levels. This can be accomplished by ensuring the consistent and serious inclusion of Indigenous women as well as advocates of women’s community perspectives in all discussions of human rights. This action can unite Indigenous women leaders and emerging leaders to share information and knowledge, coordinate agendas, build unity and develop leadership and advocacy skills.

The FUSION Foundation promotes the advancement of women’s rights, gender equality and empowerment as an integral part of a just society.

The FUSION Foundation believes gender equality is not only a basic human right, but its achievement has enormous socio-economic ramifications. Empowering women fuels thriving sustainable economies. Yet gender inequalities remain deeply entrenched in every society. Women lack access to healthy, sustainable, life-giving work and face occupational segregation and gender wage gaps. They are too often without access to basic education and health care.

The FUSION Foundation, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the UN Charter, Women’sFUSION, among other issues, works for the following three initiatives:

  • eliminate discrimination against women and girls;

  • empower women.

Vision and Goals:

The FUSION Foundation envisions a world that is more interconnected into the challenges that we share by looking at restorative justice together. This can be accomplished by bringing together communities to know the women are not alone. By working together, women learn they are not alone and their issues are ones that are shared around the world with resources, albeit limited in some capacities, to address each issue. When women’s needs are addressed and met, we expand our world to welcome women around the world in dialogue. We can collectively share projects that have been effective in one’s own community.

Short-term Goals:

  1. Create opportunities through environment and gatherings to develop a core circle of interested women with a particular focus on indigenous women;

  2. Provide indigenous women with concrete advocacy skills to increase their number and active capacity at the local, regional and global levels; and

  3. Mobilize the financial resources needed for the Women’s FUSION Fund.

Long-term Goals:

  1. Develop a core circle of Indigenous women, working with community leaders, to provide individual and collective leadership;

  2. This core circle provides the capacity for women to share their experience, strength and hope;

  3. Develop an indigenous women and community leader replicable empowerment training program focused on the original instructions;

  4. Develop an indigenous women’s and community leader’s local and global replicable mentorship program;

  5. Create online outreach tools for urban and rural application;

  6. Create training for understanding and respect for the seventh generation;

  7. Provide complementarity training between men and women at the local, national, and international levels;

  8. Ensure that both international and national public policies incorporate the perspectives of indigenous women; and

  9. Promote recognition and respect for the role of indigenous peoples and indigenous women in the contemporary world.
