The FUSION Foundation Mentoring Program has been an informal circle of friends since the inception of FUSION. As the years have progressed, The FUSION Foundation Council has placed more focus, invested more time and human capitol toward mentoring as a direct result of listening to leaders in the community and responding to their stated needs.

The FUSION Foundation is not your corporate mentoring business model. At The FUSION Foundation you learn, often, by doing!

 The Value of Mentoring

At its most basic level, mentoring helps because it assures a passionate community leader that there is someone who is invested in their aspirations. Our community social entrepreneur is not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges.

Think back. Did you sit at you desk sometimes wondering how you were going to go one more day without some support? Do you remember planning for your first large gathering or beginning to hire paid staff? Simple things that seem easy or straightforward to you now may appear to be an overwhelming feat to a community leader who is just beginning their journey or who has encountered an obstacle along the way.

Mentors provide their mentees with an experienced friend who is there to help in any number of situations.

Support for education

  • Because of our deep and wide network our mentees have access to professionals throughout a variety of local and global educational settings such as the University of Arizona, Arizona State Community College, Harvard, Purdue, Washington University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Thunderbird School of Global Management, Northwestern University,  and the list goes on!
  • Individuals who meet regularly with their mentors are less likely than their peers to become overwhelmed by day to day operations and more likely to remain focused and on task.
  • Our mentors also have a world of knowledge and experience that equates to priceless wisdom that cannot be garnered from an university degree, a book, lecture, film or workshop and they are excited to share it with you.

Support with day-to-day living

  • Mentees who commit and develop a relationship with the mentor become self-empowered.
  • Mentees become more likely to relax and not struggle as much as before.
  • Mentees comment about "i no longer feel so alone."
  • Mentors support community social entrepreneurs how to relate well to all kinds of people and help them strengthen communication skills.

Support in the workplace

  • Mentors help community social entrepreneurs set career goals and start taking steps to realize them.
  • Mentors can use their personal contacts to help community social entrepreneurs meet industry professionals and find network opportunities.
  • Mentors introduce community social entrepreneurs to professional resources and organizations they may not know.
  • Mentors can help their mentees learn how to seek and retain a circle of support.

The number of ways mentoring can support a community social entrepreneur are as varied as the people involved in each program. The personal stories of community social entrepreneurs are  impressive. Take a look at mentoring success stories to see how mentoring works from different perspectives.
