How Cochise Community FUSION Foundation Was Born

The essential core group of individuals involved in the Cochise Community Fusion Foundation's birth were magnetized by our shared community and global concerns. Our relationships have been growing and strengthening over 14 years of service to friends and community. We all saw that a time of great change was upon us, and there was a sense of urgency within the group to move forward from thought and talk into action.

As is often the case, art became the catalyst that brought us into being.

In an effort to reconnect with the neighborhoods surrounding the bridges, Marilyn Zwak was inspired to create a "Love In” to commemorate all the lives that had been changed by the construction of the overpass and to bring forth the ancient wisdom of healing and evolution through light and love.

Marilyn shared her idea with long-time friend Jodi Powers, secretary of Council of Trustees of The FUSION Foundation, hoping to gain the support of fellow artists.

The Fusion Foundation shared Marilyn’s enthusiasm; and with intense passion and focus, TeamFUSION and their extensive team of supporters and artists brought the "Love In" to life in celebration of the first Summer Solstice of the New Age with an inspiring and impressive community concert: "Peace, Love, and Evolution," which featured artists, drummers, dancers, musicians, singers, and poets.

Four women from our Cochise County community attended and performed the closing ceremony. Through this event, we learned that The Fusion Foundation was set up to support satellite organizations that are in harmony with their mission statement.

In July of 2013, we invited the Council of Trustees of The FUSION Foundation to come to our valley and present the background of FUSION and to answer questions. Several weeks later a meeting was held, and those of us who felt strongly in favor of becoming a satellite of The Fusion Foundation united to form the core group.

There are many other individuals who have become supporting members and whose inspiration and service are greatly appreciated.

The core group meets monthly or bi-monthly and welcomes anyone interested to attend and learn more about us, our planned activities, and possibly to join us as  supporting members.

We are grateful to the Council of Trustees of The FUSION Foundation, TeamFUSION for their vision, passion, and support.

We honor the ideals and principles set forth in their mission statement and reflect them in.
