          World Peace Pi FestivalTHE NEW EQUATION FOR PEACE

          The Question we ask: “We know Peace is attainable. How do we make it sustainable?”

          Through the mysterious, rather wonder-filled mathematical equation of Pi, Peace Pi is striving to find a new equation for Peace that we play with for a while. Whereas Pi is a CONSTANT, RANDOM, INFINITE number – the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter – so then the matter of creating world peace becomes a CONSTANT pursuit of RANDOM acts of Joy and Goodwill that go on&on&on&on&on&on&on&on&on&on……(INFINITE) forever. Our experiment – Sustain peace by streaming a CONSTANT, RANDOM INFINITE FLOW of Co-created efforts to lift each other up.

          Peace Pi is setting out to create a CONSTANT flow of Goodwill in the world, through the creation of transformational, cause-oriented festivals and community gatherings – co-created, documented and shared virtually around the world.  Festivals that support and call up causes that are meaningful to us. Events large and small that Peace Pi can point out to the stream of collective Pi’ed Pipers who wish to inspire global compassion for our shared humanity.

        • Cause4PawsAZ

          Cause4PawsAZStatistics show that one in six American families are struggling to make ends meet and now must rely on local food banks as their primary source of food. Unfortunately, these food banks DO NOT have pet food programs in place to help these same families feed their hungry pets. Unemployment in Maricopa County has more than doubled since May 2007, reaching near record highs. Our mission at Cause4Paws Pet Food Bank is to make sure no pets are left behind or surrendered to local ‘kill shelters’ due to a lack of support.

          Many find their only option is to abandon their family pets to the ASPCA or a ‘high-kill shelter. Seniors have to make the choice between much needed medications or pet food for their most loyal companions.

          The United States Food Stamp program prohibits the underprivileged, economically challenged and/or (poor) from using Food Stamps to buy pet food. Billions are spent each year on carbonated beverages using food stamps yet not one penny can be used to feed a pet.

          The following numbers are staggering and will only get worse with time.

          As of July 8, 2013, CNSNEWS.com reported “ The number of Americans receiving subsidized food assistance from the federal government has risen to 101 million, representing roughly a third of the U.S. population”. “The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that a total of 101,000,000 people currently participate in at least one of the 15 food programs offered by the agency, at a cost of $114 Billion in fiscal year 2012. The population of the U.S. is 316.2 million people, meaning nearly a third of Americans receive food aid from the government”.Of the 101 million receiving food benefits, a record 47 million Americans participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps”.

          Cause4Paws makes a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. With the efforts donors and volunteers in our local communities Cause4Paws is making a difference. We can save the lives of innocent pets from being surrendered to ‘kill-shelters’ and make it possible for the Elderly to keep their furry friends.

          Cause4Paws approach is simple and realistic: Find the resources to obtain pet food for the needy and make sure those who need it get it.

          Cause4Paws coordinates with local non-profit food banks, rescue shelters, senior centers and homeless shelters. Caws4Paws focus is to provide pet food to those in need by donating pet food to local support organizations that have already identified those in critical need who are pet owners. We want to do for pets what Food Banks do for people.

          • Shared "warehouse spaces" in multiple locations for storage, drop-off and pick-up Example: Dog groomers, rescue shelters, overnight kennels, grocery stores, pet stores, etc.

        • HEAL International

          The work of HEAL International is based on the principle that every human life has equal value, irrespective of socioeconomic status. Adults and children living in areas that lack essential health services bear a disproportionate burden of disease and health complications and have been shown to have a shorter life expectancy than people living in communities that have access to basic health services and health education. Moreover, medical infrastructure and economics are intimately linked. Poor health conditions and infrastructure in resource-limited communities can have a dramatic effect on local economies.

            Description of Training: This interactive and inspirational training presents introductory information about nonviolence as a courageous way of life and a powerful strategy for social change. Special emphasis is given to the six principles and six steps of nonviolence according to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and their use during various civil rights campaigns.

            Training Team: All trainers have been certified by civil rights pioneer Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr., who worked closely with Dr. King for eleven years. Each two-day session is co-facilitated by two to four trainers with diverse backgrounds.

            Background: Dr. LaFayette was a National Program Administrator for Dr. King, helped start the Student Nonviolence Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and directed the Poor People’s Campaign. Dr. LaFayette teamed up with adult education expert David C. Jehnsen to create this Introduction to Kingian Nonviolence. The training consists of modules that break down social norms; introduce the principles, steps and strategies of nonviolence; discuss four historical movements and use extensive group work to put these strategies into practice.

            Cesar ChavezWho Should Attend: Each training can accommodate up to 30 participants. Youth (teens) and adults who want to learn about Kingian Nonviolence are encouraged to attend. The training emphasizes the effectiveness of youth during the civil rights movements. Likewise, multi-generational participation in the training is very beneficial. • Co-Creational FUSION Communities

        Co-Creational Communities Network

        For the Fusion Foundation, Visions and Perspectives by Johndennis Govert, 17 May 2013

        The following are a series of thoughts, observations and visions that have occurred to me over the course of the last ten years about the creation and operation of a group of interrelated intentional communities that could positively transform the larger urban environment, its culture and spiritual attunement.

        Communities are groups of at least eight persons or families collectively sharing common grounds. The areas in which they live are likely to be urban infill neighborhoods. Buildings on these properties may be renovated or newly constructed in order to be in harmony with the full range of community aspirations and functions and with the local environment. Residents may live in the same building or not. Residents may be owners, lessors or grantees, but all adult residents who share the community lifestyle share:

        1. a commitment to benefit and serve others as well as self;

        2. a common or complementary livelihood, vocation, business or career which supports them;

        3. an active spiritual practice based on deep compassion for all beings;

        4. a commitment to work with the collective interdependently for group and personal goals; and,

        5. a commitment to living peace inwardly, outwardly, personally, socially, societally, nationally, globally and intergalactically.

        Primary Purposes

        Communities have economic themes and purposes that serve their surrounding areas, providing goods and services, inspiration, innovation, positive interaction and role models for good living. Communities importantly also provide for mutual personal and social support for members. Primary communities speed the introduction of emerging new paradigms in their area of concern very easily and accessibly to a larger public. Examples of primary community purposes are:

        Food: urban farm style of growing, preparing and serving meals that include farmers’ markets, restaurants, community dining and nutritional awareness

        Healing: growing & preparing herbs for essences, teas, or tinctures, and housing practice places for healers of various disciplines to work as healers

        Arts and crafts: artist studios, art markets, art classes, and celebrations promote the transformative effect of artists in the larger urban, regional, national and international audience

        Technical & scientific: manufacture of items needed commonly by households and small business and provision of the support services to benefit homes and businesses

        Education: for children & adults, provision of programs, classes, lectures, workshops, charter schools, or specialized schools for easy learning

        The FUSION Foundation Role:

        The Fusion Foundation is one of many organizations that will be planning, initiating, building, and linking emerging co-creational communities. The FF has a catalytic and integrating mission for manifesting these types of communities without dictating in any way the specific mission, purposes, functions, organization, structure or span of the community. Nonetheless, the Foundation comprises people from the broadest range of society, each who have incredible skills, experience and wisdom. Being open and responsive on all sides to what is evolving will create the necessary harmony and conditions for all to thrive in the emergence of co-creative communities.

     A GREAT URGENCY

    To All World Religious and Spiritual Leaders

    CHIEF ARVOL LOOKING HORSE

    My Relatives,

    Time has come to speak to the hearts of our Nations and their Leaders.  I ask you this from the bottom of my heart, to come together from the Spirit of your Nations in prayer.

    We, from the heart of Turtle Island, have a great message for the World; we are guided to speak from all the White Animals showing their sacred color, which have been signs for us to pray for the sacred life of all things.  As I am sending this message to you, many Animal Nations are being threatened,those that swim, those that crawl, those that fly, and the plant Nations. Eventually all will be affected by the oil disaster in the Gulf.

    The dangers we are faced with at this time are not of spirit. The catastrophe that has happened with the oil spill which looks like the bleeding of Grandmother Earth, is made by human mistakes, mistakes that we cannot afford to continue to make.

    I asked, as Spiritual Leaders, that we join together, united in prayer with the whole of our Global Communities. My concern is these serious issues will continue to worsen, as a domino effect that our Ancestors have warned us of in their Prophecies.

    I know in my heart there are millions of people that feel our united prayers for the sake of our Grandmother Earth are long overdue.  I believe we as Spiritual people must gather ourselves and focus our thoughts and prayers to allow the healing of the many wounds that have been inflicted on the Earth. As we honor the Cycle of Life, let us call for Prayer circles globally to assist in healing Grandmother Earth (our Unc’I Maka).

    We ask for prayers that the oil spill, this bleeding, will stop. That the winds stay calm to assist in the work. Pray for the people to be guided in repairing this mistake, and that we may also seek to live in harmony, as we make the choice to change the destructive path we are on.

    As we pray, we will fully understand that we are all connected.  And that what we create can have lasting effects on all life.

    So let us unite spiritually, All Nations, All Faiths, One Prayer.  Along with this immediate effort, I also ask to please remember June 21st, World Peace and Prayer Day/Honoring Sacred Sites day. Whether it is a natural site, a temple, a church, a synagogue or just your own sacred space, let us make a prayer for all life, for good decision making by our Nations, for our children¹s future and well-being, and the generations to come.

    Onipikte (that we shall live),

    Chief Arvol Looking Horse, 19th generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe

    Arvol Looking Horse was born on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota in 1954. Raised by his grandparents, Lucy and Thomas Looking Horse, Arvol learned the culture and spiritual ways of the Lakota. He speaks both Lakota and English. At 12 he was given the enormous responsibility of becoming the 19th generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe, the youngest in history. Arvol has felt, on many occasions, overwhelmed by inheriting such a responsibility of the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota Nations at such a young age. He was raised in an era and bore witness to the suppression of his peoples’ spiritual practices. He decided to “work for change and let the world know how beautiful our way of life is, so the seventh generation can have a better future.”

  • FUSION Fiscal Sponsored Programs

    The FUSION Foundation is proud to be the Fiscal Sponsor of many community programs. Fiscal sponsors are nonprofits that advance the public benefit by facilitating the development and growth of charitable, mission-driven activities.

    Fiscal sponsorship has evolved as an effective and efficient mode of starting new nonprofits, seeding social movements, and delivering public services. Fiscal sponsorship generally entails a nonprofit organization (the “fiscal sponsor”) agreeing to provide administrative services and oversight to, and assume some or all of the legal and financial responsibility for, the activities of groups or individuals engaged in work that relates to the fiscal sponsor’s mission.

    Fiscal sponsors are tax-exempt, charitable ventures that, according to a recent IRS report "have the ability to receive charitable contributions for specific projects, the infrastructure to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and adequate internal controls to ensure that the funds will be used for the intended charitable purposes." Simply stated, fiscal sponsors place responsibility for implementing programs in the hands of project leaders while ensuring appropriate fiduciary oversight. 1
